There's a new Comcast Xfinity scam in town, folks. And this one is pretty good, so beware. I got a call from a phone number (223 area code) and it sounded like Xfinity's hold music and outgoing welcome message ("press 1 for Customer Service, press 2 for...and so on) was the same as Comcast/Xfinity's. When I finally spoke to someone they had my address already, phone number, and the last 4 of my bank account, they knew the plan I was on...in short, they were well prepared.
They said that my "deal" was expiring and that they had an even better deal for me, the catch was I had to pay for six months' service in advance. It sounded fishy to me so I asked for them to send it to me in writing.
They disconnected. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and called back, they knew that I had called and again recited my info to make certain I was who I said I was. They eventually repeated the same "offer"and I said no, " I suppose I'll have to look elsewhere for internet". At which point, I was told that I had "broken the rules" and my service would be cut off within the hour.
I checked with the local store and was told that this is a common scam...Then I called corporate and asked why/how these scam artists had all my info...No real answer but they're "looking into it"...So... we are all on our own out there folks- from the top to the bottom we're left to sink or swim and no one seems to care whether we make it or not. Beware!
