Online Threat Alerts (OTA) - Alerting you to scams and frauds.
Scamming - Fraud
If you have received a voice message from 01772460968, do not follow the instructions in it. This is because it is a scam. The aim of the scam is to trick potential victims into believing the call is from their bank's Security Department. The voicemail will claim the recipient has pending payments from Amazon from overseas and they should press 1 to authorize or 2 to speak to a customer care representative. But, pressing 2, which recipients will do because they are not aware of the so-called charges, they will be transferred to a call center operated by scammers.
The scammers will pretend to be from their potential victims' bank and ask them to disclose their account credentials, personal or financial information. The scammers are given the requested information, they will use it fraudulently. Therefore, if you have been tricked by the this Security Department scam, please contact your bank for help immediately. Use the telephone number on the back of your card or go to their bank's website for their contact information.

It was an automated voice and it said they were from my bank’s security department and I have had 2 amounts taken from my account over £1,300 in total. I think one was for Amazon and another for a foreign bank account. As it was an unusual activity for me and my account they wanted verification from me. I did not listen to it anymore. DO NOT press any keys to verify anything. Hang up and check your own bank account in your usual way.
Automated message apparently from my bank but they didn't say my name nor the bank. Said I had pending payments of £300 for amazon and £1200 for an overseas payment, press 1 to authorise or 2 to speak to customer care. I didn't press and hung up.
