Amazon Macbook Scam Call Payment and Press One

Beware of Amazon Macbook scam calls! It is a scam making the rounds that involves an automated call from a spoofed phone number indicating that your Amazon account has been charged for an Apple MacBook and that you should "press 1" to speak to a representative. But, these calls are not originating from Amazon.

"payment of $1499 for the recent order of MacBook Pro on your Amazon account if you do not authorize this payment please press one to speak to our customer support representative..."

I did not press one. I called my credit card company and asked if someone had made a $1499. charge from Amazon or any other charge in the amount of $1499. The credit card representative said "no" and she said it was a scam and I should report it to our local authorities. She also said I should it report it to Amazon.

Scams of this nature are very easy to take advantage of us and we are embarrassed if we fall for them. I hope this post saves someone from these criminals.
