PNC Alert Scam and Unauthorized Transaction Text

Yesterday, I received a PNC Alert scam text from a Steven Logan from PNC. The text message came from 507-905-0076 and states "A zell transaction to Michael Smith 2500 did you authorize?" Steven calls from what appears to be a PNC number. To make the scam look legit, he encourages you to hang up and call back knowing you will get a PNC recording.

A few minutes ago, I received another PNC text scam that claims a transaction has occurred, this time the amount is 1200 and the name it went to his Patricia Varga.

Scammers nowadays are sophisticated. They have the technology to make their scams appear legitimate . Therefore, to protect yourself, always go directly to PNC's website at www.pnc.com and sign into their accounts or use the contact information to contact PNC.
