Centerpoint Scam Calls - Service Disconnection and Payment

Scammers are calling potential victims saying Center Point is going to turn off their service, and will be out to their houses in the next 30-45 minutes unless they pay a fine. I verified with Center Point Energy that the calls are a scam. Center Point said they are getting numerous calls about this scam.

How the Centerpoint Scam Calls Work

I’ve gotten two Centerpoint Energy scam calls in the last two days saying that my electricity is about to get disconnected and I should press one to avoid shutdown. The calls sounded really legitimate, but would never make payment in this manner. If there’s a problem, always call the company yourself and ask about it.

I pressed 1 and when the guy heard my voice and that I wasn’t falling for it, he hung up.
