I got this while watching the World Cup Final, it’s slick in that the email comes from PayPal. TotalAV have a note on that email with the contact number supposedly for PayPal and those who call that number are vulnerable. I suspected this note with a number and went to my PayPal account, took the contact number from there and spoke to a PayPal rep who assured me that cancelling the request would prevent a transaction. Now Xmas won’t be spoiled.
I received the request of payment which I have cancelled, hopefully they dont deduct the money from my account
sameDo not authorise payment!
Same, received email from genuine PayPal. Scary.
I have just received the same scam via a genuine PayPal email. I have declined the payment request in my account and forwarded the email to phishing-paypal.com.I tried contacting PayPal via their messaging centre and via the official telephone system, but neither system seems to support this type of query or problem. Obviously a case of ‘account holder beware’.
I have had similar this morning £879.99 . It waiting for me to authorise on PayPal . I reported and hopefully it well disappear from my account. Concerning that it made it to my accounts … and not just an email scam.
