Publishers Clearing House Scam Call

Publishers Clearing House has gotten many reports about scammers using the Publishers Clearing House name to deceive people. Scammers call, claiming you’ve won the sweepstakes, but to collect your prize, you need to send money to pay for so-called fees and taxes. But, paying to collect a prize is a scam.

Scammers like to ask you to send money by Western Union or MoneyGram, or by getting a prepaid card or gift card. Why? Because it’s nearly impossible to trace that money – and you’ll almost never get your money back.

If you think you’ve won a prize, here are a few things to know:

  • Publishers Clearing House will never ask you to pay a fee to collect a prize. In fact, no legit prize promoter will ever charge you to win.
  • If anyone calls asking you to pay for a prize, hang up and report it to the FTC.
  • Never send money to collect a prize. It’s a scam.
  • Clearing House doesn’t call ahead to say you’ve won.

I was just contacted through Instagram and had said I won 1 million plus 25,000 a week for life... In order to collect I would have to pay 700 up front for tax purposes... As soon as I heard that I looked up the sweepstakes on how u will know u won, and after reading the rules I instantly hung up and called publisher clearing house myself to report the scam

Came home today to find a phone message from PCH telling me I was a lucky winner of 4.6 million dollars and I should call them immediately! They gave me a phone number to hurry and call. That number was 855-502-4833 Ext 1.. Thought how great was that seeing I have never won more then 10 dollars from PCH, The number that it came from was 855-502-4833...Thought I should check into the win until I spoke to some official at PCH, but after seeing all the spam articles on your web sight, I figured I was set to be poor for the rest of my days...Jim & Kathy

Had a phone call from Jamaica saying I won a price from PCH. That Wal-Mart had entered me in the contest and I just needed to go to Wal-Mart and pick up my letter. Before they could get any info from me, I hung up and blocked the number after they tried calling me back twice.
