Google Chrome Critical Error Scam Sent by Cybercriminals

The "Google Chrome Critical Error" message below is a fake and a technical support scam. The scam message is being used by cybercriminals to convince potential victims into believing that a virus has attempted to enter their computer via Google Chrome. The scam also claims that the personal data on the victim’s computer has been severely compromised and he or she should call a tech support number to solve the issue. But, this is not true.

If the fake technical support telephone number is called, the cybercriminals on the other end will pretend to be a technical support representative from Microsoft. The cybercriminals will intruct their potential victims into giving them access to their computer, and ask for personal and financial information.

Therefore, victims of this technical support scam are asked scan their computers for virus, spyware and malware with the antivirus software on installed on it. Then, disconnect their computer from the internet and have a tech savvy person check it for suspicious activity.
