"Smile Train Donation" Scams Being Sent by Scammers
SmileTrain does not send out emails requesting donations and asking recipients to respond with their personal information. Therefore, recipients of fake emails, like the one below, are asked not to follow the instructions in them. This is because the fake emails are being sent by scammers who are posing as representatives from Smile Train, a 501 organization and charity providing corrective surgery for children with cleft lips and palates.
