Locky ransomware has reappeared again and is making its way into the mailboxes of online users. The ransomware is being distributed as an attached malicious Microsoft Word document disguised as a PDF document. Once the recipients open the malicious document, their computers will get infected with the ransomware, which will make all their documents, photos, videos, and other important files on their computers unreadable.

The Locky Ransomware is a sophisticated piece of malware that blocks the victim’s access to his/her files. The malware does this by encrypting or making all the files on the victims’ computers unreadable and then ask for money to decrypt or make the files readable again.
It has been noted that a criminal hacker group has been flooding mailboxes with spam thus sending out fake documents that deliver the new and improved Locky ransomware. This attack relies on users opening malicious attachments that will appear legitimate. Therefore, it is important that recipients of unexpected email messages never open the attachments in them.

So, it is important that you get paranoid when opening an attachment that came in an unexpected email message.
