The message below, which claims that that members cannot leave or exit a WhatsApp group called "Firdaus we ascend" if they have joined it, is another hoax or fake-news. We are not saying that the group doesn't exist, but there is no group on WhatsApp that you cannot leave or exit which you have knowingly or unknowingly joined. Below is a sample of the WhatsApp hoax or fake-news that is currently being circulated on the social media messaging platform.
The "Firdaus We Ascend" ISIS WhatsApp Group Hoax
There is a watsup group called 'Firdaus we ascend', if invited, don't join the group, it belongs to Daesh*. If you join the group you will not be able to exit from it, be vigilant, please inform others - send it to your relatives and children on WhatsApp so that they remain careful.
*Daesh is the arabic name for ISIS.
The hoax further claims that the group belongs to Daesh, which means ISIS in Arabic. That is right, Daesh is an acronym for the Arabic phrase al-Dawla al-Islamiya al-Iraq al-Sham (The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant). Essentially, it's another word for ISIS - but apparently, it's one that ISIS militants do not favour. According to NBC, ISIS has reportedly threatened to 'cut out the tongues' of anyone it hears using the term. Therefore, why would ISIS give their allegedly WhatsApp group that name? The answer, the message was created by pranksters or people who do not know what they are talking about.
The hoax will not harm your mobile device or computer but will cause millions of WhatsApp users to be flooded with posts or messages with misinformation from their friends, who think they are informing them about a possible online threat.
